Rado, a Swiss watch brand which has flown under the radar for a long time, have, in the last couple of years, sensibly latched onto the idea of inviting a top sports star to become their Brand Ambassador and kick up some much needed heat and buzz.
The top sports star is of course Britain’s no. 1 tennis hope Andy Murray, currently the hero of the hour for fighting his way back from two sets down against unseeded Spaniard Fernando Verdasco, to secure a place in the Wimbledon semi finals.
Determination and fighting spirit such as this, with the crowd willing him on, is the stuff a brand dreams of. And after each match the first thing Andy does is strap his Rado back onto his wrist.
So with tennis now very much at the forefront of Rado’s activities, they have just served up their newest collection of watches: The HyperChrome Court Collection.
This new line is inspired by the three surfaces on the professional tennis circuit: Hard, Grass and Clay courts.
Hyperchrome Court Collection
All watches are black and feature the colours of the courts: the hard court is represented by the brilliant blue version, the grass by gleaming green and the clay by an audacious orange. The dial details and hands of each model contain Super-LumiNova to glow in the dark. Large sub dials are grouped at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock with the date at 4 o’clock. The 45mm watches, water resistant to 100 metres, run on the trusty ETA 2894-2 movement, more reliable than Andy’s serve, and with a power reserve of 42 hours.
