The Limited Edition C7 Bluebird celebrates Christopher Ward teaming up with Bluebird as its Official Timing Partner. A century after Sir Malcolm Campbell started racing in earnest and re-named his car Bluebird, his descendants are preparing to set a series of new land speed records.
Christopher Ward’s new limited edition C7 Bluebird is based on the design of the speedometer in the Bluebird car which broke the 300mph carrier in 1935.
As the Official Timing Partner to Bluebird’s Speed Records, Christopher Ward has been able to draw heavily on design details taken from Sir Malcolm Campbell’s record-breaking car. Don Wales, Sir Malcolm Campbell’s grandson, and himself a land speed record breaker, describes the C7 Bluebird as, ‘Simply magnificent.’
Apart from the vivid ‘Bluebird blue’, the watch features all sorts of design cues taken from the 1935 car. Bluebird’s logo is deep-etched into one of the watch’s three chrono dials and the concentric circle design on the car’s huge aerodynamic wheels are mirrored on the watch’s back plate. There is even a scaled-down version of one of the car’s octagonal wheel nuts at its centre.
To mark the fact that it was in 1912 that Sir Malcolm re-named his car Bluebird and first began to race in earnest, Christopher Ward are producing only 1,912 C7 Bluebird watches worldwide.
