30th Anniversary edition GW-A1030A-1AER
You Probably Can Afford It follows on from our YPCAI – You Probably Can’t Afford It series, which showcased watches in the ‘I can’t believe I’ll need a second mortgage to buy a watch’ price bracket. This week we feature a watch not only affordable, but also highly desirable for the considerable number of G-Shockers out there who collect G-Shocks the way a previous generation collected Airfix models.
G-Shock celebrates its 30 anniversary this year, and it is bringing out a series of 30th Anniversary Limited Edition watches of which this is one. It’s not even available yet, but it will be in short supply when it hits the street. The watch features a huge list of functions including an impressive 200 metre water resistance, solar powered movement, world timer and a daily alarm to name a few. G-Shock’s sophistication has come a long way since 1983’s DW-5600 – which is still a much loved and prized model.
This timepiece is also designed with a black rubber strap and a cool resin case. It will retail at around £500.00.
Springtime for G-Shock
Meanwhile, G-Shock has brought out a new line to celebrate the joys of Spring, and a very frisky little series it is too. Designed for the active and fashion conscious man, without compromising on G-Shock’s innovative technology, the extra large 55mm case GA200SH series make a bold statement with their colourful dial treatments. The GA200SH-1A features a black resin strap with red accents around the inner bezel and red hour indicators, while the GA200SH-2A features a metallic black resin band with blue accents and the last in this series GA200SH-8A is a steely grey with shocking green accents.
All GA200SH models include shock and 200M water resistance, magnetic resistance, Auto LED, world time (29TZ/48 cities+UTC), four daily alarms and one snooze, 1/1000th second stopwatch with speed indicator, countdown timer, 12/24 hr formats, and mute function.
New additions to the G-8900SH series
As if that’s not enough, G-Shock, who love to shock with their infinite variet, has brought out some new additions to the Garish Color line, the Big Case Digital G8900SH series.
The G8900SH features an easy-to-read LCD highlighted by Auto Super Illuminator LED backlight encased in a large case with an aluminum bezel. It comes in heritage black with red accented dial and the ever popular blue with black accented bezel.
The Big Case Garish Colour model, G8900SH features shock and 200M water resistance, 1/1000th second stopwatch, world time (31TZ / 48 cities + UTC), flash alert, 4 daily alarms and 1 SNZ, and countdown timer.
The Garish colour introductions continue to incorporate G-Shock’s trademark rugged toughness with a fresh new twist on G-Shock’s Shock Resistant case design. A magnetic resistant structure enables the watch to run with minimal deviation when exposed to a certain level of magnetic field. These watches are particularly useful for electronic engineers and other professions where strong magnetic fields are present.
So there you have it. A fresh, bright and highly collectible troop of G-Shocks coming your way all at regulation G-Shock affordable prices.
