Seiko launches new Premier Kinetic collection
25 years ago, Seiko released the world’s first Kinetic watch, which used the motion of the wearer to help create the electrical energy to power its quartz movement. It was a technological advancement that helped to revolutionise the watch making industry and remains perhaps one of the most important horological achievements of the last century.
The new collection is to be officially launched at Baselworld in April, but here’s a sneak peek at two of its standout models. The first is the 5M84 calibre (ref no SRN037) which includes a new functionality to Seiko’s Kinetic technology, which is a power reserve that incredibly lasts for six months. The watch also includes a date window and retrograde day indicator.
The second is the Premier Kinetic Direct Drive watch (ref no SRG009, pictured above) which is not only powered by the motion of the wearer, it can also be powered by turning the crown, as with a mechanical watch. However, the watch goes one step further because when you wind the crown, the power reserve function changes to become a real time indicator!
Visit Click Tempus in the coming weeks for a more detailed look at the renewed and refined Seiko Kinetic Collection.

ARTYA Son of Sound
From one musical inspired watch to another. The ARTYA Son of Sound will undoubtedly make a lot of noise within the watch loving community. We’re delighted to announce that the new watch is entirely in line with the left field spirit of Yvan Arpa and his ARTYA watch brand. We’ve featured a number of Yvan Arpa timepieces on Click Tempus and it can honestly be said that each and everyone is unique in their design – some might even say a little crazy, but that’s definitely part of the appeal.
The watch features a guitar head shaped case, with its pushers replicating tuning heads and hands in the shape of a metronome which sweep over the dial and give the element of time a distinctive rhythm.
We’ll excitedly await the official launch of the ARTYA Son of Sound watch from Yvan Arpa himself at this year’s Baselworld.
