Who would have thought there was such a thing as a bootylicious watch? To the extent of my own and, in fact, most people’s knowledge, timepieces are inanimate objects that don’t have the potential to entice and seduce in the same way a classic hourglass figure can… until now that is.

Former Destiny’s Child member, Kelly Rowland, has finally taken the spotlight off her notorious curves by way of translating her shapely form into another object of desire – a watch.

Last year, TW Steel teamed up with the superstar and compiled a timepiece to bear her name. Forget Burberry, Chanel and Armani promenading down the catwalk this London Fashion week, lately it has all been about celebrity branding. Kelly is just one of the many celebrities who endorse elements of apparel design to great success.

Her watch however, is more than just a fashion statement. Amidst the jewel encrusted bezel lies a face with an extra three dials that incorporate vital date reminding functions. Kelly’s CE4006 (pink) and CE4007 (blue) (her two favourite colours) feature 56 zirconia baguettes, in either pink or blue, and house a chronograph movement with a AA-grade PVD rose gold plated case. In keeping with TW Steel’s style, both watches are oversized. In addition, Rowland’s signature adorns the case back on each timepiece.

Rowland loves ‘the statement wearing a big watch makes’. The chunky watch features block numerals, against a delicate pearlescent backdrop. Both pink and blue designs posess straps that are colour coded with the oblong jewels that are intertwined into the bezel. The leather strap looks secure and sturdy, referencing the reliability and functionality of the piece, yet also acting as the ‘statement’ that Kelly so wants to achieve.

The eye catching block colourations don’t stop there however as the face is supported by a golden, geometrically cut support that embeds the timepiece seamlessly into the strap. The metal matches the hands and numbers providing the final finishing touch to the piece and a hint of ‘bling’ symbolising Kelly’s rich heritage and the booty shaking glitz and glam that accompanies it.
