Special Breguet Type XX commissioned for Aeronavale’s 100th anniversary

Lucky French Fleet Air Arm, better known as the Aéronavale. They get to celebrate their hundredth anniversary in 2010.

To celebrate this auspicious occasion they turned to luxury French watch maker Breguet to make a special limited edition watch.

Abraham Louis Breguet was appointed Horologer to the French Royal Navy in 1815, and has always enjoyed close ties with the French Navy. The new Type XX chronograph is a 1,000-piece limited edition time piece.

The model features some unusual characteristics for a Type XX, including a black-lacquered rotating bezel with raised numerals and slightly larger than that of the 3800; as well as an exclusive winding crown and special markings comprising the official emblem of the Naval Aviation centenary. The new Type XX watch will be delivered with a special presentation box, as well as a limited-series certificate.

It will be the Royal Air Force’s 100th anniversary in 2018, with the swingeing budget cuts currently taking place throughout every government department, the poor old RAF will be lucky to have a centenary Timex commissioned.
