New IWC Big Pilot’s ‘Top Gun’ series previewed at Harrods

For the next two weeks Swiss watch maker IWC will be exclusively showcasing three limited edition timepieces at its luxury boutique in Harrods.

Taken from its iconic Pilot collection, watch lovers will get the chance to take a first look at the ‘Top Gun’ timepieces before they go on sale at the prestigious London store in July. Crafted from titanium and ceramic, the three watches comprise the Big Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Top Gun, the Big Pilot’s Watch Top Gun and the Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar.

The Fine Watch Room at Harrods, which is where the timepieces will be displayed, is said to be the largest of its kind in Europe and showcases a host of mini boutiques from many of the world’s leading watch makers including Vacheron Constantin, Richard Mille and Breguet.

In addition to today’s announcement of the Top Gun display, the IWC boutique at Harrods is also home to a red/gold skeletonised Portuguese tourbillion that is believed to be the only version of its kinds found anywhere in the United Kingdom – well worth checking out!

IWC Big Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Top Gun

The Big Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Top Gun is limited to 500 pieces and is available with a blue superluminova dial. The chronograph features a flyback function and the IWC 89365 calibre manufactured movement, which is protected against the effects of magnetism by an inner casing made from soft iron. The dial makes reference to the watches classic cockpit style design.

The 46mm case is complete with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal which is coated on both sides. The watch has a power reserve of 68hrs and is water resistant to 50 metres. The watch retails at £10,250.

IWC Big Pilot’s Watch Top Gun

By combining the traditional functionality of its classic Pilot’s watch with the latest in modern design and technology, the IWC Big Pilot’s Watch Top Gun is an excellent reinterpretation of a classic timepiece. The Top Gun features a 48mm ceramic case, which also incorporates a titanium crown. The green superluminova dial means that it’s quite the eye catcher. Also limited to 500 pieces, the Top Gun features a 7 day power reserve. The Big Pilot’s Watch Top Gun is available from £14,250.

IWC Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar

With its red superluminova dial, the IWC Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar is limited to 250 pieces and is undoubtedly the main attraction of this exclusive display. IWC claim its one of the most complex pilot’s watches ever created, and who are we to argue!

Featuring an IWC specially manufactured movement, the watch’s 7 day power reserve drives a whole of host of complications, such as its perpetual calendar which features a 4 digit year display, as well as displays for the day, date and month. Oh, and don’t forget the moon phase display!

The IWC Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar measures 48mm in diameter and has a retail price of £30,250.
