Maurice Lacroix has recently announced the details of its new limited edition novelty watch, the Pontos S Extreme. The watch, which is to be officially launched at Baselworld 2013, is a follow to up to the brands popular Pontos S timepiece from 2012.
The new watch has undergone something of a revamp in terms of its design thanks to Henrik Fisker, the legendary Aston Martin and BMW designer, who has helped to give the Pontos S Extreme a new cutting edge look for 2013.
The Pontos S Extreme is undeniably sporty and will definitely appeal to lovers of oversized chronograph watches. Its black round case measures 43mm in diameter and has been sandblasted with a patented alloy, known as Powerlite, which is made up of magnesium, aluminium, ceramic and titanium that helps to give the watch a robust and bold looking finish.
The watch also features a black and red inner rotating bezel, as well as a cambered sapphire crystal that has been treated on both sides with an anti-reflective coating.
The black satin dial includes white luminescent hour markers and hands, with red coloured minute and second hands. In fact, the red colouring on the inner bezel and minute and second hands further adds to the watch’s ultra sporty look, with is then further complemented by a red chronograph pusher.
Looking closer at the dial, you’ll find a 12hr and 30 minute counter at the positions of 6 and 12 o’clock respectively, with a small seconds display found at 9 o’clock. The watch also includes a small date window at 6 o’clock, which located within the 12 hour sub dial.
Inside, the watch is driven by a Swiss ML112 automatic movement, which is a Valjoux 7750 base movement, capable of 28,800 vibrations per hour. Containing 25 jewels, the Maurice Lacroix Pontos S Extreme also has a 46 hour power reserve.
The watch is then completed by a NATO style nylon strap that fastens with a titanium buckle.
