The Classic Fusion Mykonos limited edition was introduced last year by Hublot and must have struck a zither chord with Hublot collectors as it has proved to be a huge success.
Never a brand to shy away from a winning formula, Hublot have now unveiled two new models for summer 2013. This time around they are more luxurious, crafted entirely from gold or two-colour titanium and gold, designed, like the first watch, to match the sea which shimmers like gold under the Mykonos sun, because while Greece continues to struggle with austerity measures, nothing can detract from the natural beauty of the islands.
Mykonos, is without question, the archetypal Greek island famous for its windmills. And so in keeping with the theme of blue and white, the watch once again features a discreet, elegant windmill at its heart.
The two new models are 45 mm in diameter and equipped with a chronograph movement with a date. The movement is made of 280 components, 59 jewels, and features a 42-hour power reserve.
The case for the gold version of the watch is made from a special red gold which Hublot call King Gold. It’s exclusive to the brand, and is an18K gold with 5% platinum added to give it its intense red colour and make the gold even more precious.
The two-colour version features gold paired mixed with titanium, prized for its lightness, shock-resistance and extreme resistance to corrosion.
Like the Greek waters it represents, the dial is an aqua blue. It’s a sporty dress watch with gold coloured indexes and counters designed to further reinforce the illusion of the
shimmering sun on the surface of the water.
The watch comes on a tone on tone strap featuring blue alligator leather sewn onto black rubber for better resistance and comfort. The watch is water resistant to 50 metres.
Only 10 numbered pieces are available for the King Gold 18K version and 25
numbered pieces for the two-colour version. However, if you want one you may have to make a trip to Mykonos itself, as they are exclusively available from the Gofas Boutique – from where the original idea came – in Matogianni 43 846-00 Mykonos.
