An emotion. A setting. A watch. CYMA wrote its history with each of its creations from the time when the watch industry set up shop at the heart of the Jura in Switzerland. Since 1862, the watch company has always reinvented the watchmaking universe thus faceting its mark.
There’s a Swiss writer somewhere in the foothills of the Jura mountains, his mind fortified by the montane climate, his English culled from the writings of 18th century novelists. Said writer has since managed to convince all of the major Swiss watch brands that their press releases and company histories must be written in the windy prose of a bygone era.
That having been said, the new range of Myriad watches from Cyma are certainly myriad in their designs and very handsome indeed. The Chrono New World has an automatic Valjoux 7750 chronograph movement, this black and red version of the Myriad range is the star of the collection.
The Chrono Fascination and City Watch series of the Myriad range come in large 48.5mm wide cases which are 15mm thick. Each watch has the same dial/case variants, but with a high end Ronda quartz chronograph movement that has a generously proportioned date indicator. Dials for the collection include the universe and feature plenty of SuperLumiNova. The dials give the impression of gazing up at the stars which is perhaps appropriate according to the ascendant tones of the company’s history:
Sustained by its first successes, CYMA continues its tremendous ascent to the highest level, standing daringly next to the biggest Swiss labels.
And then: Walking in the footsteps of our predecessors, we will carry on, day after day, inscribing CYMA in the Swiss watch making history, strengthening its worldwide recognition on the way.

Such grandiloquence, and then there’s the portentous piano music that accompanies the watches on the Cyma website
The Chrono New World will retail at around US$2,690 and the Chrono Fascination range will be around US$1,500.
