This is not exactly late breaking news because Corum unveiled the Admiral’s Cup Legend 42 a few weeks back, but it’s only recently been reviewed by watch blogger to the stars Ariel Adams so we’re in good company in coming to it a little late.
Its hallmarked twelve-sided bezel and nautical pennants have defined the Admiral’s Cup family for decades.
For 2011, Corum have added a new model which, while it won’t make waves in terms of high fashion, will still be relevant and wearable a decade from now.
42mm case

At 42mm, this new model is smaller than the collection’s sporting versions, and the new design is more understated, but Ariel likes the case which has been redesigned with more strongly curved and rounded lugs, resulting in softer angles, while the sapphire caseback allows a view of the calibre CO395 movement inside.
42 hour power reserve
The Corum Admirals’ Cup Legend 42 is powered by their calibre CO395 which is a Swiss ETA 2895 automatic movement. On the steel models the rotor is in steel, while in the gold cased version the rotor is in 18k gold.
The movement has a 42-hour power reserve and features an oscillating weight engraved with the Corum name.
The dial features a vertical guilloché motif for the steel and two-tone steel & gold versions, or barleycorn guilloché for the 18K red gold models.
The Admiral’s Cup Legend 42 comes with a leather strap for the steel and steel & gold versions, or an alligator strap for the gold versions – both secured by a folding clasp.
The steel and steel & gold models are also available with a new matching steel bracelet exclusively developed for this Admiral’s Cup Legend 42. With prices starting at US$3,600, it’s in the affordable range even for those who can’t afford the yacht to go with it.
