Citizen launches Royal Marine Commandos Super Tough Collection

Citizen has launched a new watch collection in partnership with the Royal Marine Commandos which come with a monocoque case and extra-thick sapphire glass.

The new Royal Marine Commandos Super Tough watch collection is already in a number of stores and as well as having the one-piece monocoque (monocoque: a ‘single shell’ in French, a construction technique that uses the external skin to support some or most of the load.) This is as opposed to using an internal frame or chassis that is then covered with cosmetic body panels.  The case has been built to be shock-resistant, weather proof, anti-magnetic and is made from super titanium.

Two of the models feature kevlar straps, the same material used in bullet proof vests, and have a strap keeper based on a dog tag. A further two models are world timers and also have titanium cases with a wetsuit expansion clasp.

“We are extremely proud of our association with the Royal Marine Commandos and the exciting launch of this Super Tough Collection. Due to the high quality of the materials used in the manufacture of these watches, they truly are Super Tough. All of the watches feature the Royal Marines Commando logo on the dial and The Royal Navy logo is engraved on the case-back.” Mark Robinson, Brand Director, Citizen Watch UK

Special Royal Marine packaging has also been designed for the collection. Prices will start from £299.

About the Royal Marines

Royal Marines in action

The Royal Marines are part of the naval service and under the full command of Commander-in-Chief Fleet. The rank structure of the corps is similar to that of the British Army with officers and other ranks recruited and initially trained separately from other naval personnel. As of July 2012 the Royal Marines had a strength of 7,900 regular and approximately 700 Royal Marines Reserve, giving a combined component strength of around 8,600 personnel. The Royal Marines are the only European marine force capable of conducting amphibious operations at brigade level.
