This is the go to watch for when you can’t afford a Rolex GMT. Christopher Ward have produced a number of C60 GMT Trident GMT’s in various bezel colours, but this latest with orange accents is the most striking.
In 1954, in collaboration with Pan Am Airways, Rolex developed the first dual-time watch, the GMT Master, which had the incredibly useful function for the airline’s personnel of being able to tell the time in two separate time zones simultaneously.
Of course Christopher Ward is not the first watch brand to design their own version of this classic Rolex diver, but this is undoubtedly a very clean and classy design make-over with lots of attention to detail including the delightful trident style second hand.
The 42mm watch is powered by the ever reliable ETA 2893-2 automatic movement. And because the Trident has a uni-directional bezel it is possible to know the time in three time-zones simultaneously.
If you like the orange theme there’s a choice of a stainless steel bracelet with orange accented indices or a leather strap with orange piping to match the bezel colour.
But as with all Christopher Ward watches, the biggest difference is in the price. With the Rolex GMT Master II, expect to pay upwards of US$7500.
The Christopher Ward C60 Trident GMT Automatic is yours for around US$890 or just US$740 if you live outside the European Union.
No wonder they speak of Christopher Ward as being the cheapest expensive watches you can buy.
