Swiss watch brand Certina has launched the new DS Powermatic 80 to celebrate 125 years of watch making. The watch combines all the hallmarks of a classic Certina timepiece but also keeps with the brands’ tradition of innovation in watch making.
Limited to 5000 pieces, the watch is driven by a Swiss ETA CO7.111 movement which Certina is calling the Powermatic 80. The movement boasts a power reserve of 80 hours, is COSC certified, with 23 jewels beating at a frequency of 21,600vph.
The movement is housed in a polished stainless steel case which measures 40mm in diameter and which includes a narrow bezel. The case is water resistant to 100m and also includes antireflective sapphire crystals on both sides, with a transparent caseback.
The cambered dial is simple, yet stylish with Certina’s vintage Double C logo present just below 12 o’clock, whilst “125th Anniversary” is visible above the date window at 6 o’clock. The superluminova hour markers and hands have been covered in a gold PVD coating. Through the watches transparent case back you can see its black rotor which engraved with “125th Anniversary” as well as the Certina tortoise logo.
The watch is then secured to the wrist with a brown alligator leather strap, complete with a butterfly clasp and two pushers. Price TBA.
