Star of the hugely successful graphic novel movie adaptation 300, Gerard Butler, has landed another dramatic new role and joined the family of Geneva-based fine watchmaker Roger Dubuis.
Armed with an imposing physique and a determined temperament, Gerard Butler is another star who came to be a brand ambassador more or less by chance.
He spotted a Roger Dubuis watch in a shop window, bought it and proudly showed it off to friends. In luxury watch land, a big movie star going around saying nice things about your brand uninvited normally results in a brand ambassadorship before you can say ‘flying tourbillon.’ And so it has proven to be the case.
‘Blown away’
Before taking on the destiny of the Spartan King Leonidas, Gerard Butler was a lawyer but he was spotted by English actor, writer and director Steven Berkoff in a London coffee shop. However, getting to the top of the business has taken the usual amounts of indefatigable determination and skill.
Gerard Butler (Gerry to his friends), has kept the faith with Geneva watchmaker Roger Dubuis and enjoys showing off the watch that is so like him, one of the Warrior range from the Excalibur collection.
Intrigued by Roger Dubuis, a manufacture he feels shares so many of his values, he sought to discover more.
Gerard Butler toured the Roger Dubuis manufacture and duly declared himself “blown away.”
Innovation and passion
The innovation, passion and creativity at Roger Dubuis were what struck him most during his visit, where he inspected all stages of the watchmaking process, all undertaken in-house by the Geneva company.
He ended his tour with a long look at Roger Dubuis’ current models, particularly the Excalibur and La Monégasque collections.
The star will now take an active role in spreading the word about the Swiss manufacture.
‘Natural fit’
“Counting Gerard Butler among the brand’s friends is all the more special since this proximity is a natural fit with the world of Roger Dubuis. Gerard’s fire and powerful image resonate perfectly with the firm’s watches and will increase publicity amongst an audience who appreciate art and aesthetics.” Roger Dubuis CEO Georges Kern
“Watchmaking is just like the cinema; it hides a precise mechanism which must then generate emotion. The world of Roger Dubuis, the arrival of its collections, like spaces of freedom, perfectly matches my principles. You need to take chances in life and always push yourself.” Gerard Butler
Remember that the next time you see a watch you fancy in the shop window.
