A new phase: The Longines Master Collection Retrograde Moon Phases

Thanks to an exclusive new movement, Longines has created a unique watchmaking combination. The Longines Master Collection Retrograde Moon Phases features four retrograde hands. In other words, the hands that display this information return immediately to their former position once they have completed their cycle.

Being part of the Swatch Group, which also happens to own ETA, the largest of the Swiss movement manufactures, Longines was able to develop this unusual movement ‘in house’. It beats at 28,800 vib/h and has a 48 hour power reserve.

Longines Master Collection Retrograde Moon Phases

The new Longines Master Collection Retrograde Moon Phases are housed in either a 41mm or 44mm stainless steel case and are available with a black dial and a black leather strap, or with a contrasting silvered dial, deep blue for the phases of the moon and a brown alligator strap.

The hands also have discreet correctors for the retrograde functions, enabling the wearer to return the hands instantly to a given position if desired. The new models in the Longines Master Collection Retrograde have a silvered dial featuring black Roman numerals. No information on price yet but they’re likely to be around the US$5000 mark.
