Khaki is the new black right now. Hamilton has the Khaki Field, Jean Richard has the Highland Sand, and now Ebel has the Classic Sport Chrono all in shades of khaki.

Khaki is the first in a series of new Classic Sport Chronos from Ebel that will feature different colour bands, other models still to come will include beige, brown, coral pink and navy blue.

The Classic Sport Chrono runs on an Ebel 503 quartz movement housed in a slim 41mm case which features Ebel’s trade mark round bezel bolted with six polished screws. The meticulous finishing of the case, the elegant integration of the pushers along the side of the case, and central dial decoration with the sub-dials enhanced in a silvery tone all add up to a crisp, clean sporty chrono with the date neatly tucked away at 4-o-clock.

The hands are coated with Superluminova for easy night reading for those times when you’re getting in a few laps after work in your local river as part of your Territorial Army training – mind you, the watch is only water resistant to 50 metres which is rather on the puny side for a sports chrono. Look out for the watch at Baselworld 2011 if you are fortunate enough to be putting in an appearance.
