WatchCrime: Lost for words; watch magazine loses computers in robbery

WatchCrime

Not merely content with stealing valuable watches in a recent spree of daring hit and run raids on jewellery stores across the UK, now criminals are even targeting publications that write about watches!

The offices of UK publishers ITP Promedia, based in the Hatton Garden area of London, were broken into and computer equipment was taken. This resulted in the editorial team being unable to keep a waiting world up to date with the latest watch news on Friday.

Possibly thieves believed the offices contained valuable watches, as their magazine WatchPro regularly features articles on several leading brands, and recently Bremont founders Nick and Giles English were guest editors. Perhaps it was mistakenly believed that high value Bremont watches were left on the property.

WatchPro is a subsidiary of ITP Group, the largest magazine and digital publisher in the Middle East & India. The company publishes several market-leading titles from its central London office including Professional Jeweller, newly launched Menswear Insight and Lingerie Insight.

Police are currently investigating the robbery, in which fortunately none of the staff were hurt. The March edition of WatchPro, a magazine with a broad remit to cover all watch genres, will be published on schedule.

We wish ITP Promedia a quick recovery from the incident.
