Ready to fly: Aerowatch 1910 Hommage Chrono-Auto

Founded in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Aerowatch SA is an independent family-owned company that has quietly been producing high-quality timepieces since 1910. Their latest collection, Hommage 1910, is the first collection they have made that actually harks back to their roots and the reason why they are named Aerowatch.

The Hommage 1910 Chrono-Auto model could prove to be a real flyer for the family. It’s built with a 45 jewel Dubois-Depraz calibre 285 automatic chronograph movement beating at 28,800 vibrations and adorned with the prestigious Geneva Seal. It has a 30-minute counter at 9 o’clock, a 12-hour totaliser at 6 o’clock and a small seconds sub-dial at 12 o’clock.

The movement is housed in a light, 44 mm diameter, polished titanium case with a domed sapphire crystal, total weight just 70 grams, no more than a few slices of Swiss Emmantaler.

The black dial of the Chrono-Auto is legible at a glance, and influenced in design by the instrument panels of civil and military aircraft. The numerals and hands are brightly luminescent in the dark thanks to super luminova Arabic numerals.

The watch comes on a black leather pilot’s strap with two polished steel rivets accented by white stictching. As with most watches these days, the Hommage 1910 Chrono-Auto will be in a limited edition; this model being limited to just 200. The Chrono-Auto is available online for around US$3,205 which holds up very well against some of the major name brands.
