Luxury watchmakers Breitling have just announced that footballer David Beckham is to be the well known face of Breitling’s Transocean Chronograph Unitime Worldtimer watch. The collaboration between the historic Swiss brand and the well regarded British football player will reportedly be a long-term partnership.
The timepiece in question is fitting of this high-powered pairing; the Transocean Chronograph Unitime was one of the star attractions at Baselworld 2012. The watch is equipped with Breitling’s patented new mechanism, the Manufacture Breitling Calibre B05, which operates at 28,000 vibrations per hour, affording the Transocean an over 70-hour power reserve.
The mechanism’s double disk gives the wearer “universal time mode”, meaning the wearer can read the time from all 24 time-zones at a glance. The Transocean automatically adjusts the date to local time when shifted, making this the perfect timepiece for a jet-setter such as Beckham. The 46 mm-diameter case (available in either steel or 18 carat red gold) houses a convex sapphire crystal, unidirectional ratcheted rotating bezel, some 56 jewels and either a black or polar white dial.

Beckham was photographed for the company’s new print campaign by renowned American photographer Anthony Mandler. The award-winning football player is pictured standing in front of a private jet at the Mojave Air & Space Port in California, sporting the Transocean Chronograph Unitime.
