Zino Davidoff started out selling fine quality cigars in Switzerland. Even before he made his personal line of cigars, Davidoff was already popular among the elite as a great middle man for cigars. He was even credited with the invention of the desktop humidor – a small tool that can preserve the already lit cigar.
After leaving school, Zino decided he would prefer to see the world rather than attend university and set sail for South America, penniless and with just a dinner jacket. Shortly after arrival in Argentina, Davidoff – a stateless person – had his ‘League of Nations’ passport stolen. The local authorities, unfamiliar with this document, took Davidoff to be a diplomat from his easy, confident manner and issued him with new ID documents without further ado.
If your wife doesn’t like the aroma of your cigar, change your wife. Zino Davidoff
Over the years strong sales of Davidoff cigars throughout Europe afforded Zino a life of elegance and leisure. In an era before stultifying political correctness, Zino quite reasonably adhered to the view that if your wife did not like the aroma of your cigar you should change your wife.
Today the Davidoff brand represents all the best things in an exclusively male world including of course fine cigars, a top selling male fragrance called Cool Water, and now the new Velero Collection of gents watches.
The new Davidoff Velero watch features a round 45mm case in 316L stainless steel. Its front side is protected by a domed, double-sided anti-reflective sapphire crystal. The sapphire glass is also used for the case-back water resistant to 50 metres. Hour, minute and small seconds counters are positioned at 6, 12 and 9 o’clock respectively with the day and date at 3 o’clock. The indices glow brightly in the dark thanks to Superluminova coating.

The gents Automatic Chronograph and gents Automatic are powered by a Valjoux 7750 movement inlaid with Cotes de Geneve finish. The mechanism has an oscillating weight emblazoned with the Davidoff logo. Set with 25 jewels, it offers a 42-hour power reserve.
The watch comes on a stainless steel bracelet or brown alligator leather strap.
