If you happen to be reading this from the UK or USA, Seculus might be one watch brand with which you are not familiar. And there is good reason for this, as despite being available extensively throughout Europe, Russia and the Far East, Seculus watches are not currently available in either the States or the United Kingdom.
From its headquarters in Biel, Switzerland, Seculus has been producing watches since the 1960’s. The Seculus Royal Marine, launched at the end of 2012, is one of the brand’s most recent offerings.
A sporty looking divers watch, the Royal Marine is available in either 42 or 48mm diameter and features a stainless steel 316L case with a double scratchproof sapphire crystal on the front and back.
The dial consists of two layered engraved plates with the Seculus logo at 12 o’clock and date window at the position of 3 o’clock. The white hands and hour markers stand against the black dial and include luminescent coating offering improved visibility when diving.
The watch is driven by an ETA 2824 automatic movement, nothing too fancy but which is regarded as one of the workhorses of the Swiss watch industry.
Water resistant to 200m the watch comes with a stylish triple link steel bracelet, as well as an additional silicon strap to be used when diving.
If you have not heard of Seculus or the new Royal Marine watch, you might want to find out a little more about it if you are heading to Europe any time soon.
