Online bargain hunting takes on a rather different meaning when the price tag is upwards of US$390,000, but for some it’s a small price to pay for the most innovative and intricate examples of haute horology you can slip on your wrist; when Greubel Forsey has rocketed itself into the uppermost reaches of haute horology in just 7 years.

Double Tourbillon 30° Asymétrique
Greubel Forsey is widely admired even by the movers and shakers of competing brands in high end horology. The company has made itself a name as a watch manufacturer, especially thanks to its invention of watches with two and four tourbillon mechanisms in the same watch case, and the patented mechanisms that allows them to get their force from the same main spring.
An original creation, only eight of which have been made, the Double Tourbillon 30° Asymétrique is a deliberately extrovert interpretation of the first invention by Greubel Forsey.
Immediately identifiable by its asymmetrical nature, this special edition watch is also distinguished by a different movement construction and by an unconventional display of the power reserve and the seconds, entirely separate from the original DT30°.
The most striking new feature is the fact that the Double Tourbillon 30° mechanism can be observed in its entirety, from both the front and sides, with a spectacular rotation of the two Tourbillons in a stage setting featuring a black nickel backdrop.
The circular opening in the dial and the lateral window provide a full view of the double cage, free of any point of attachment other than the two essential wheels: the larger of them supplying the system with its mechanical energy, and the other transmitting the passing of time.
