How’s this for a hugely desirable boy toy. A 1200cc scrambler with wheels fatter than a royal baby souvenir special. That’s the BMW R1200R when it’s converted into part café racer and part hyper scrambler by French custom bike builder Ludovic Lazareth.

Commissioned by a French client who wanted a “neo-retro Scrambler,” the bike combines modern elements with undeniably retro touches.  The bike’s dynamic is shifted entirely forward, using a truncated seat/tail unit to make the profile even more pronounced.

The Lazareth BMW R1200R is a major makeover from the source motorcycle, with the 100-hp engine and the paralever suspension being two of the few parts kept from the original.

What’s added is a tubular chassis, and a set of widened Yamaha YZF-R6 sportbike forks designed to hold chunky Continental Twinduro tyres. There’s also a new Ixil exhaust with dual sculpted aluminum mufflers.  The cockpit has been stripped down to the bare essentials, as well, with just one analogue speedometer, minimalist handlebar wing mirrors, and lights.

Raymond Weil Nabucco Rivoluzione

A magnificent all black rebel bike like the Lazareth BMW R1200R should be matched with an equally bad boy watch. Unusually for normally clean and conservative Raymond Weil, this all black Nabucco Rivoluzione is just the job. Its 46 mm case is made of titanium and steel and is coated with black PVD, while its sides are decorated with ultra-light carbon-fibre material.

The watch features a matte black dial and black hour and minute hands that glow in the dark. So do the hour indices. The cluster of subdials at the centre of the dial echo that of a motorcycle cockpit.

The Raymond Weil Nabucco Rivoluzione watch is powered by an ETA Valjoux 7753 chronograph movement, which is both reliable and accurate and has a power reserve of 46 hours. As this watch was released two or three years ago you may have to search around a little
