Another in our occasional series of explorations into interesting and worthy Swiss made watches that don’t necessarily grab all the headlines.
Christian Jacques is a Swiss manufacture based in Basel, famous of course for the most important Swiss watch event on the calendar, Baselworld. The watches are actually made in Bulle, a small charming town in the Swiss Alps, where watches are designed and assembled with all the care and attention that have made Swiss watches a possession to be prized the world over.
Although a relative newcomer in terms of many of the leading Swiss brands, the manufacture, established, by Jean Paul Luttenauer over 25 years ago, has developed a reputation for quality and design; first in Switzerland, and now increasingly throughout some of the major markets for watches including Russia, UAE, Qatar, Hong Kong, and Singapore. In other words, they’re after markets where there is rapidly rising disposable income rather than rapidly spiralling into bankruptcy like so many nations in the basket case known as the Eurozone.
The emphasis is on watches of top quality with impeccable technical quality, contemporary but with highly skilled finishing. The watches are designed to be worn regularly and enjoyed rather than storing away for a special occasion.
Christian Jacques introduce two new lines each year for both men and women and have recently opened a distribution outlet in Hong Kong designed to take the lead in influencing choice throughout the South East Asia region. Watch this space because Christian Jacques may not be ‘Lesser known‘ for too much longer.
